Energy Labels and washing machines

Posted on May 13, 2014

Appliances can use a great deal of energy and there are opportunities to make significant savings by planning a suitable replacement, especially with old fridges and washing machines.
This article explains why you have to beware with the labelling on annual power usage of large load washing machines versus smaller load machines. Note that it really depends, though, on the typical size (weight) of load you expect to wash – an underused large load machine, unless its settings can reduce the power consumption, would NOT save you energy.

So think carefully of the most suitable machine for your use habits, or think of  making fewer, larger washes.
