Government paves the way for the Green Deal.
News of the preparations for the launch of Green Deal ‘pay as you save’ scheme this autumn, and the new energy Company Obligation, ECO are now being published. This will provide a completely new framework for investment and support for energy efficiency from autumn 2012.
At no upfront cost owners and tenants could get cost-effective measures installed in their homes based on a report into what can save more energy costs than the repayment on loans. The interest payments will be linked to the property (electricity meter) so future charges, which should be lower than savings from reduced energy bills, will be taken care of by future occupants in homes that are treated under the Green Deal.
